I was just wondering why the image tag are switched off?

Is it because of members with low bandwidth you are concidering here. Being that this forum would be full of images of planets and stars i can understand the restriction i guess.


However could you not give the members the option to see images or not? images on | images off

therefore giving them the choice to whether they wish to see images in posts and DL them?


as always just a thought

Talon, this is something I mentioned a while back to our ADMIN - however I think it was left as it was due to system resources being limited....or something like that.

We did have problems with the site resources earlier on this year, though things are moving a bit more speedily nowadays.

As RJ said, the IMG tags in some sections (not just Astro Imaging) are set to on. Check the IMG code status before posting an image is probably the best advice I can give.

hmmmm i have seen a few pic's as you mention after i posted.

when i look at my profile is does say IMG is off tho?

should i just ignor it?

I will only post an image spearing anyway as i know it can effect modem users.

if i can?

I would think this has been done to stop people posting animations or jpeg pics in their signature. As the pic would appear each time the person posted, switching the IMG tags off presumable saves on resources.

I did ask for the IMG tags to be switched on the both the Telescopes section & the Observations section (the latter to allow sketches to be uploaded). It was done for Observations, so I guess I can't complain too much!

I usually try to keep any images to under 100kb. As a 56K man, I find this doesn't cause any problems when downloading.

Look forward to seeing some images from you (hopefully) soon.

yea yea totaly agree with the 56k issue - just not fair.

ok thx i will probaly never post an image but you never know, sometimes you can say more with an image than with a million words.
